Industry Support for Alt-Fuels In Focus at EBACE2019

13 March 2019

Sustainable alternative jet fuels (SAJF) are expected be in focus as never before in conjunction with the 2019 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2019), illustrating the industry’s long-standing commitment to reducing its already small emissions footprint.

This year, several business aviation stakeholders will recognize the 10th anniversary of the Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change, which identified SAJF among other initiatives, for further reducing overall emissions in business aviation.

In the past year, as part of that commitment, a coalition of international business aviation organizations released a guide outlining the pathway toward the adopting and use of SAJF, and sponsored a demonstration day in the U.S. to prove the fuels’ viability and safety. The stakeholder organizations also organized a demonstration day at California’s Van Nuys Airport, to showcase the fuels’ availability and performance. Information about these and other initiatives is available at a dedicated website, futureofsustainablefuel.com.

In conjunction with EBACE:

  • The first European SAJF demonstration day will be held 18 May at Tag Farnborough London Airport.
  • The industry’s commitment to SAJF adoption will be discussed as part of an overall EBACE show preview, during the 20 May EBACE Media Luncheon.
  • The show’s opening day, 21 May, will feature an SAJF-focused technical panel discussion, held at 14:00 in the EBACE Innovation Zone on the show’s exhibit floor.

These and other SAJF-focused initiatives underscore that the fuels are safe and do not impact aircraft performance; they offer benefits to airports and the communities, including reduced particulate matter, and; SAJF reflect the commitment by business aviation to aircraft emission reduction.
