Joachim LückingJoachim Lücking has been the Head of Unit for Aviation Safety in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission since November 2016. He is responsible for implementing and developing European aviation safety policy, including oversight of EASA, as well as the commission’s international activities in the area.

Lücking has more than 25 years of experience in the European Commission and previously held a number of management positions in the Competition Directorate-General.

Prior to joining the Commission, Lücking worked in academia and industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and a MBA from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as well as a M.A. in Economics from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.
