Bryan Sherbacow - EBACE

With over 15 years in the industry, Bryan Sherbacow is a recognized leader in the development of low carbon fuels and responsible for the first commercialization of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

In 2009, Sherbacow co-founded AltAir Fuels for the refining and marketing of low carbon renewable fuels. The company’s initial facility, located in Paramount, CA, is the world’s first refinery designed to produce SAF. Sherbacow was responsible for identifying strategic industry partners and equity investors in addition to negotiating contracts for the refinery JV, technology licensing, engineering and construction.

Commissioned in January 2016, AltAir Paramount converted a petroleum refinery to the production of SAF, renewable diesel, naphtha and propane. Sherbacow negotiated the aviation industry’s first commercial contracts for SAF with United Airlines, KLM and World Fuel Services. Additionally, he executed the first contract for operational use of renewable diesel fuel by the U.S. Navy. Subsequent contracts include Gulfstream, Boeing, UPS and Amazon.

In March 2018, Sherbacow facilitated the acquisition by World Energy of AltAir and the Paramount refinery assets. The combined entities operate six refineries in North America focused on providing low carbon solutions to the transportation industry. World Energy is one of the largest and longest serving advanced biofuel suppliers globally and with the acquisition of AltAir, the world leader for commercial sustainable aviation fuel. Sherbacow serves as its Chief Commercial Officer in addition to being a Director for the Company’s Paramount Pipeline, LLC business.

Sherbacow also serves as Chairman of the Low Carbon Fuels Coalition, founder of the Council on SAF Accountability and a steering committee member of the Business Aviation Coalition for SAF.
