Business Aviation in Europe is undergoing measurable shifts in activity and aircraft ownership. Today at EBACE25, the ‘State of the Industry: Latest Insights on European Business Aviation: Movements & Fleet Trends’ session offered attendees a detailed overview of how the sector is performing, where it’s growing and the trends shaping the region’s future fleet.
Presented on the Flight Daily News Live stage, the session brought together three of the industry’s leading market intelligence voices: Richard Koe, Managing Director at WingX; Arthur Thomas, Director of Market Intelligence and Industry Affairs at the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA); and Rolland Vincent, Director of JETNET iQ. Each panellist presented their unique dataset, delivering a multidimensional perspective on how Europe’s Business Aviation fleet is functioning today and where it may be headed.
Thomas opened the session with a general overview, analysing movement data, market share and connectivity maps. His presentation revealed that Business Aviation accounts for more than 1.5m movements annually in Europe, supported by a diverse fleet of more than 4,000 business aircraft.
Analysing the European landscape more closely, Thomas said: “Our data shows that Business Aviation activity has been stable in 2025 so far. Perhaps more importantly, the sector continues to connect regions that scheduled airlines simply don’t reach.
“At the same time, we must acknowledge the fragmented perceptions around Business Aviation. While our sector plays a vital role in driving connectivity and economic value, it still faces a degree of public and political scrutiny across parts of Europe.”
Vincent followed with a data-driven overview of fleet trends, drawing on insights from JETNET iQ’s global operator and owner survey. Highlighting the strength of the European market, he said: “Europe accounts for 11% of the world’s business jet fleet and continues to be a critical market for Business Aviation. The fleet is comparatively young and operators are highly responsive to shifts in technology and market dynamics.”
Richard Koe closed the session with a broader strategic outlook, exploring operational dynamics and customer behaviours through WingX’s extensive activity data. His presentation delved into how usage patterns are evolving post-COVID, with a particular rise in demand for light jets among new entrants to the market.
Koe said: “We’re seeing clear shifts in how and when clients are using Business Aviation. Evolving customer expectations, seasonal demand patterns and the wider geopolitical climate are all playing a role in reshaping traffic flows across Europe and other key regions.”
