EBACE2016: Excitement, Energy Surround Show’s First Day
As the 2016 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2016) opened today, enthusiasm was high at the event, in which more than 450 exhibitors and 60 aircraft on a sold-out static display were included in the largest footprint for the show to date. EBACE, which is co-hosted by the National Business Aviation Association and the European Business Aviation Association, runs through 26 May. Business Aircraft an ‘Absolute Necessity’ Say EBACE2016 Keynoters
EBACE2016 opened with anecdotes from speakers on how business aviation has impacted them and their organizations. Channel IT Group CEO Bassim Haidar said his company had grown so fast partly because of business aircraft, adding, “It’s not a luxury, it’s a tool.” Bernard Kouchner, co-founder of Doctors Without Borders and former French minister of foreign and European affairs, said that humanitarian efforts would be impossible without light aircraft. Patrick Ky, executive director of the European Aviation Safety Agency, agreed the business aviation industry was important, because of its “dynamism, willingness to innovate and close partnership with regulatory authorities.” Read more about the EBACE2016 Opening General Session.

At EBACE, Bombardier Sees Light Jet, Large-Cabin Aircraft Sales Lifting
Projecting an emerging market rebound over the next two years, Bombardier predicted a continuing recovery in the light jet category, as well as resurgent demand for large-cabin airplanes, when it unveiled its 10-year market forecast on the opening day of EBACE2016. “Although right now we’re going through a softer patch due to what’s happening in emerging markets, we see the large cabin category leading the market [over the next 10 years],” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Bombardier Business Aircraft vice president of strategy, marketing and innovation.
