SUSTAINABILITY

Building a more sustainable EBACE25

EBAA is committed to sustainability and to minimising EBACE25’s environmental impact. Sustainability and good sustainable practices are the norm for many organizations and activities in Europe towards a lower carbon future. Business aviation is no exception to this notion and if our sector is to have a continued license to grow it will be dependent on its ability to do so sustainably and responsibly.

The Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change (BACCC) was published in 2009 by the International Business Aviation Council and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. The publication of the Commitment is supported by the entire industry.

PALEXPO SA, COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY

Palexpo has been committed to sustainable development since 1993. Palexpo has been certified ISO 20121:2012 since 2018, for its infrastructure, and obtained a second certification in 2019 for its management system. This standard, which is dedicated to the events industry, certifies that its activities are carried out in a sustainable manner and its buildings operated in an environmentally friendly manner.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Palexpo uses 100% renewable energy sources: hydraulic and solar, thanks to the 30,000m2 of photovoltaic panels on the roof of Palexpo. Palexpo is the second largest solar power plant in Switzerland.
  • Palexpo gives preference to local suppliers, reducing the impact on the environment by avoiding lengthy transportation of goods. 95% of all purchases are made locally to reduce carbon emissions.
  • 100% of carpets offered to clients are made from recycled resources.
  • Food scraps are converted into biogas through a biomethanization process. The biogas is used to fuel the truck that collects the waste.
  • All Palexpo restaurants have been awarded the GRTA (Genève Région Terre Avenir) label, and dining areas feature a vegetarian alternative. 57% of dishes are meat-based.
  • 100% of food wasted is recycled and converted into biogas, which is used by the trucks that collect waste on site.
