Melvyn Heard

President at GE Honda Aero Engines and Passport Engine Programs, GE Aviation

Melvyn Heard is the President of the GE Honda Aero Engines business and Passport Engine Programs business at GE Aviation. In his role, Heard leads the teams that are driving the business aviation turbofan programs for GE Aviation, including the joint venture with Honda Aero (GE Honda Aero Engines).

Heard began his career at GE Aviation as a design engineer for the company’s commercial programs. With more than 26 years of service in GE Aviation, his tenure with the company includes roles in marketing, sales and operations. In his most previous past position at GE Aviation, Heard led the used material business and the customer service teams for global military customers.

Heard has extensive experience in organizational redesign, is a Six Sigma Black Belt, and holds an MBA from Xavier University, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University.
